Welcome back to my blog! Today, I’m excited to share an incredible journey that began with an unexpected twist: a canceled flight. What could have been a major inconvenience turned into an extraordinary adventure in Bogotá, Colombia. Let’s dive right into the story!

Day 1: Cerro de Monserrate and La Candelaria

Our original plan was to fly to Guadalajara, Mexico. However, just as we were ready to leave for the airport, we received a message that our flight had been canceled. Rather than waiting for another flight, we took a leap of faith and switched our destination to Bogotá, Colombia. Our first stop in this beautiful city was Cerro de Monserrate, a hill offering panoramic views of Bogotá. Did you know that the chapel on Monserrate is a famous pilgrimage destination?

After visiting Monserrate, we explored La Candelaria, the historical heart of Bogotá. With its cobblestone streets and colonial architecture, La Candelaria is a fascinating place to connect with Colombian history.

Day 2: Jardín Botánico de Bogotá

On the second day, we visited the Jardín Botánico de Bogotá, the largest botanical garden in Colombia. This verdant space offers a relaxing and refreshing respite from the bustling city.

Day 3: Exploring the Outskirts of Bogotá

Our initial plans to visit the Salt Cathedral were thwarted by unforeseen circumstances. However, as luck would have it, we found ourselves in the charming towns of Tenjo and Chía, where we celebrated Colombian Independence Day. The festivities reached their peak at the famous Andrés Carne de Res restaurant in Chía, where we experienced a truly Colombian celebration.

Day 4: Museums in La Candelaria

We concluded our trip with visits to two cultural landmarks in La Candelaria: the Museo de Botero and the Museo del Oro. Did you know that the Museo del Oro in Bogotá has one of the largest collections of pre-Columbian gold art in the world?

Conclusion

What began as an unexpected change in plans turned into an unforgettable journey. I hope you enjoyed reading about our amazing adventure in Bogotá. Stay tuned for more exciting stories and travel tips!
